Astronomers included Al Stern, visiting Star Lab Astronomer
and Larry Brown, president of the AAS.
The Amador Astronomical Society held
"Sky & Telescope" classes on Saturday
April 16th at Kids' College in Sutter Creek. This makes the 19th
year in a row the AAS has supported Kids College! We also wish to
thank guest speaker Al Stern, past president of the SF Sidewalk
Astronomers, who demonstrated the Star Lab planetarium to eager star
gazers. Al has previously given planetarium shows at Golden Gate
Park in San Francisco.
After the Star Lab event, participants were able to use a solar
telescope set up outside for sunspot viewing. We also used
"color analyzers" to determine the relative light
wavelengths and
temperatures of different galaxies from astronomical photographs.
